MPC 3000 ReGroove Template by Peff

Reason 4.0’s ReGroove Mixer is an amazing way to experiment with note timing and exploring rhythmic patterns. It’s no secret that the Akai MPC series of drum machines are legendary for their feel and some even speculate that the vintage devices have more character than the new ones. Included with the Reason 4.0 Factory Soundbank are a set of MPC60 groove templates, and even the new shuffle control features settings that emulate MPC swing patterns. The MPC 3000 groove files might seem a bit redundant, but they do have a unique character.

MPC Groove Template Tutorial by Peff

The MPC-3000 Groove Templates are MIDI sequences extracted from sample loops created with an Akai MPC-3000 MIDI Production Center. Originally, this project involved creating MIDI files on the MPC and transferring them to a computer for import into Reason, but the results did not quite have the same feel as loops created with the MPC. The timing does not seem to capture the groove when using imported MIDI files. The problem could be the difference in PPQ (Pulse Per Quarter Note) resolution on different sequencers, or perhaps the latency and timing of the circuitry in the sampler engine.

MIDI tracks extracted from MPC-3000 ReCycle! loops. Use these as groove templates for MPC quantization in Reason. These MIDI groove templates are used on Spectrasonics Stylus and Stylus RMX.

Patches and ReFills

RAW MPC Refill Vol 1 by Kikbak

This is not your typical MPC 60 Refill.   These drum sounds are from Kikbak’s customized MPC 60ii, which boasts a +4dbv output boost on all outputs.   This modification makes the MPC 60ii louder and punchier than a stock MPC 60, which outputs at -10dbu.  At the heart of this refill are 59 drum sounds, 8 Redrums, and 7 Combinators.   A collection of quality drum sounds that pack some serious punch and smack.

Raw MPC@+4dBv Vol.2 by Kikbak

This is not your typical MPC 60 ReFill. These drum sounds are from Kikbak’s customized MPC 60ii, which boasts a +4dbv output boost on all outputs. This modification makes the MPC 60ii louder and punchier than a stock MPC 60, which outputs at -10dbu.

MPC60 Vol1 by Goldbaby

What if the TR’s got together with the MPC60! That’s right… 808, 909, 606, 626, 33, 66, 77, 707, 727, 505 … all sampled into the MPC60. Oh yeah! That can only be good… Well it is! The Legendary 12 bit drum sampler makes these samples oh so solid.

MPC60 Vol2 by Goldbaby

Ok my fingers are dusty and my stylus now needs replacing but it’s finally here! The MPC60 loves Vinyl and you’re going to love Vol 2!

MPC60 Vol3 by Goldbaby

This is the last in the MPC60 series of sample packs. It includes: Layered Drums, Vinyl Drums, Various Drum Machines, FX and even some synth sounds. All sampled on the MPC60. Then captured as 24 bit wavs. These super solid samples are dripping with the MPC60′s legendary sonic character.

MPC1000 by DannyBeatz

A combinator emulating the MPC1000 sampler. This is a pre release version and is not 100% completed. It requires a lot of cpu power just to load up the patch, so don’t bother if your computer isn’t so fast.

MPC Repeater by Gigarok

This is a collection of combinator patches that emulate the ‘Note Repeat’ feature found on MPC series drum machines. There are 10 drumkits in this refill, although it’s quite easy to create your own within the combi.

CV Keysplit 12 by Dioxide

This Record file contains a Combi that allows you to trigger multiple drum combis from a MIDI input. Each key has its own arpeggiator that can be used for MPC style beat repeats.
